Our Pastor

Pastor/Teacher Richard Grilley;

Richard and his wife Angie (Canfield) were raised in Ashland county and were sweethearts at Mapleton High School. God has seen fit to return them to the Ashland area after many years of ministry and education in Virginia, Indiana and Ohio.

Richard accepted Christ as an adult at Trinity Baptist Church. In the Summer of 1996 God called Richard, his wife and two toddlers away from Ashland to finish school at Liberty University. Richard graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Religion with minors in Education and Psychology. Beginning in 1999 he served 8 years on staff in Plymouth, Indiana with his ministry friend and mentor, Doug Jividen. After moving a little closer to home, Richard and his family served 3 years on staff in Mansfield, Ohio before being called to shepherd the people here at Trinity Baptist Church. He is currently working on his Masters of Religious Education from Liberty University.

Richard oversees the spiritual growth of the people at Trinity. He works to ensure that the vision God has for us – that of changing lives - is the center of all we do, as individuals and as a fellowship community. Richard has a true gift of teaching. He works to build authentic relationships, develop leaders and grow service-minded Christians. During the Sunday services Richard consistently brings messages that are relevant, and challenging.

Pastor Richard enjoys volunteering at his Alma Mater,  Mapleton Schools as much as possible. As an alum of The Ohio State University, he is very much a die-hard O.S.U. fan and for some reason cheers for the New York football Giants. He also enjoys minor league baseball. He relaxes by spending time with his family playing board games, or working to build their small farm, most anything that lets him be outside. He loves sports, godly music, the Red Green Show, reading, building his eclectic collections of historical and fictional items. Pastor Richard enjoys movies and shows in the sci-fi genre or basically anything containing the word "Star".  There is no better day off than a day spent at home or on a short road trip with his wife, Angie.
